Day 1 will kick off with Dr. Tracey Marks, a practicing psychiatrist of over 20 years, whose mission is to increase mental health awareness and understanding by educating people about well-being and self-improvement. Dr. Marks has an enormous following on YouTube where she produces educational videos for managing stress, anxiety, and improving executive functioning. Dr. Marks’ book, Why Am I So Anxious?. Next, Michelle Garcia Winner, Founder of Social Thinking, will talk about her newest work, a graphic novel for teaching executive functioning (available late 2024), and will share some of her favorite tips and tools for supporting executive function foundations for tweens and teens.

Renowned for her commitment to bridging the mental health knowledge gap, she educates over a million viewers through her YouTube channel, @DrTraceyMarks. Her mission is centered on enhancing understanding of psychiatric disorders, promoting mental well-being, and fostering self-improvement. Dr. Marks emphasizes that gaining insight is key to both personal growth and reducing societal stigma.


As a respected forensic psychiatrist, she has provided over 1,000 expert opinions for various legal proceedings. In addition to her media contributions, including commentary for CNN and HLN, Dr. Marks maintains a clinical practice focusing on mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and burnout. Title: Tips for Teaching Executive Functioning and Self-Reflection: Building Awareness of “What to do” and “How I’m Doing Over Time.”


Description: Social and organizational competencies rely on solid to strong executive functioning. In this talk we’ll explore a practical definition of executive functioning and ways to support teaching these concepts. We’ll share some tips and/or strategies that we have found to help students/clients get things done they don’t want to do. This short talk will touch upon fostering social curiosity, promoting organizational know-how, encouraging social problem solving, rallying one’s motivation, building metacognitive awareness, and teaching self-reflection of one’s own success. We teach these concepts through the lens of a new graphic novel for teens and a story-based visual teaching tool.


Bio: Michelle Garcia Winner, MA, CCC-SLP, is the founder of Social Thinking®, CEO of Think Social Publishing, Inc., and a globally recognized thought leader, author, speaker, and social-cognitive therapist. She is dedicated to helping people of all ages develop social emotional learning, including those with social learning differences.
